The environment we are in can influence our mind, body, and spirit. Find out below why surrounding yourself with Scripture can be particularly powerful.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
#1 Scripture is the Living Word of God
The Bible isn’t just a nice book to read and get tips and tricks for life. It’s the living word of God. Every time you read Scripture, it has the power to touch your life in new and eye-opening spiritual ways. This is undoubtedly one of the reason’s it’s STILL so vital in our life today, even though the Bible was written thousands of years ago.
Every time you read the Bible, Jesus can use the SAME words to teach, heal, learn and grow you in DIFFERENT ways as you draw closer in your relationship with Him.
For the word of God is alive and active.
#2 It’s an enemy repellent
We put bug repellent on our skin as an invisible barrier which makes bugs less likely to want to be around us so they (hopefully) won’t bite us.
Surrounding ourselves with Scripture in our home, car, work, cell phone, etc. is like bug spray for our soul. It supernaturally repels the enemy because the holiness of Scripture is naturally unpleasant, irritating and uncomfortable to the enemy of our soul. So we are less likely to be bit and stung by the enemy’s lies.
Scripture is powerful in defending us against the enemy.
Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
#3 It lifts our hearts to the Lord
When we place Scripture all around us, God can call our attention to the right verse at just the right time when we need it most. This strengthens us in our faith walk.
The world will distract us. The enemy and our own sinful nature will tempt us into sin. Creating a holy space by surrounding ourselves with Scripture is like leaving notes for our future self, reminders Jesus can use to call us back to Him in thought and prayer. Encouraging us it will all be okay.
“it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
Start thinking of ways you can surround yourself with Scripture. It’s a powerful way to create a holy space for you spiritually.
