This Easter many of us will be stuck at home. To top it off, where we live, we have a snowstorm headed our way! So, here’s a list of movies we can all watch to help keep the Easter story alive in our hearts and imaginations this year.

Powerful movies about Jesus to watch this Easter:

Jesus of Nazareth (Rated R) – This movie is pretty intense, so beware of that if you have little kids or you are tender-hearted. This movie is from 1977 so it has a little more of that old-school feel.

The Passion of Christ (Rated R) – This movie came out in 2004 and is spectacular but extremely emotional and graphic. It depicts the final 12 hours leading up to and including the crucifixion.

Risen (Rated PG-13) This movie just came out in 2016, and I’ve never seen it before. The ratings and reviews say it’s excellent, so I’m excited to give it a try!

Son of God (Rated PG-13) This movie came out in 2014. It really ignites your imagination and helps the Bible stories come alive when you read them afterward.

The Gospel of John (Rated PG) This year’s church readings during Lent are from the book of John, so it would be a neat year to watch this one!

Bonus:

The Bible (Rated TV-14)This is technically a t.v. series. I watched it several years ago and it is amazing for helping the Bible stories come alive!

Enjoy and let me know if there are any movies about Jesus we should add to this list for you to enjoy this Easter!
